Distinguishing features still need to be specified.

Plantae: species: Spinifex longifolius
was recorded at Lizard Island by Buckley (1988). This is likely a misidentification of Spinifex sericeus.
Plantae: species: Spinifex hirsutus
was recorded at Lizard Island by Byrnes et al (1977). However, their material in the Queensland Herbarium is now identified as Spinifex sericeus (Atlas of Living Australia accessed 21 Jan 2019).
