Distinguishing features

An azooxanthellate species that forms thickly branched, upright colonies in areas with good current flow. Corallites are large and tubular, and arranged along the branches. Colonies are dark green-black in colour.

Distribution and habitat preferences

Reef fronts, passes, exposed back reef areas.

Can be found in most habitats around Lizard Island with good current flow.
