Distinguishing features

Large size, low tentacle count (for a cerianthid), the long tentacles are very much longer than the inner ring of shorter tentacles, dark colouration.

Thanks to Joe Rowlett (Field Museum, Chicago) for identifying the Watson's Bay image as Arachnanthus sarsi. The type locality for that species seems to be the North Atlantic and Atlas of Living Australia (accessed 11 Jan 2020) does not have any records of it in Australia so the species name is not applied here.
