Distinguishing features
A small species, reaching only 3 cm. Green or brown with a wide white band behind the head and a narrower white band further back.
Bilobed white eyes with two vertical black stripes; dorsal surface of telson covered with fine hooks similar to Velcro. In the field, the entire surface of the telson is covered with detritus. The animal often sits with its camouflaged telson plugging the burrow entrance (information from Roy's List).

species: Chorisquilla trigibbosa
Ahyong (2001) notes that this species is based on a juvenile holotype and adults have never been recorded reliably. It was considered a synonym of Chorisquilla tweediei but the two are now considered distinct. Records of this species from Lizard Island are almost certainly misidentifications of Chorisquilla tweediei and they are to be found under that species in LIFG.
Comments
Roy Caldwell provided LIRS with a list of stomatopods he collected at Lizard Island between 1986 and 1997. It includes Chorisquilla trigibbosa (which was likely a misidentification of Chorisquilla tweediei) with the note: "reef flat".

Local abundance
- Lizard Island: Appears to be quite common on windward reef flat habitats.
