Distinguishing features

A large oceanic squid that does not come into shallow water. Its large gelatinous egg masses are occasionally seen drifting near the surface in the Lizard Island area. They are up to 250 mm diameter and 2 metres long with rows of eggs that spiral closely around the outer edge.
