Distinguishing features
A stalked barnacle with a main body, or capitulum, made up of five plates. The capitulum is up to 25 mm long. The plates are white to pale grey with an orange outline that mostly disappears in dead animals. The plates have very fine ridges. The stalk is brown and about as long as the capitulum, sometimes up to twice as long.

- Lizard Island, Queensland, Australia: Goose barnacles appear occasionally at Lizard Island, attached to floating debris. When present, they can be in very high numbers.
