Colours

              

Distinguishing features

A silver fish with bronze tint in certain light, many small dark spots on sides. Most individuals have a noticeable white spot at top of gill cover, behind a much smaller dark spot. Lower lobe of tail fin yellowish with a narrow white border. Tip of anal fin also pale.

Local abundance

  • Lizard Island: Small specimens (to 40 cm) frequently seen near Casuarina Beach. Large schools of larger individuals (to 60 cm) sometimes present at Cobia Hole.
