Distinguishing features
A bottom-dwelling shark with a very broad, flat head and body. Shades of brown in a reticulate pattern; all specimens recorded from Lizard Island to date (Feb 2019) have a few rosettes on the body and fins made up of a dark central spot surrounded by pale spots outlined in brown. Mouth is fringed with highly-branched dermal lobes, including on the chin.
