Distinguishing features
Black stripes alternating with white, yellow or blue stripes that stop abruptly at the tail. Found in caves and under ledges. Tail and other fins may be pinkish.

has a very similar colour pattern but occupies a different habitat -shallow reef flats, surge areas (Allen et al, 2003). -
Animalia:
species: Ostorhinchus aroubiensis
has been recorded once from Lizard Island, by Lassig (1983). However, Randall (2001) notes that Ostorhinchus nigrofasciatus was often midsidentifed as Ostorhinchus aroubiensis. Lassig's record was likely one such misidentification. -
