Distinguishing features

Notes by Dr Richard Willan (NT Museum, Nov 2021), referring to the specimen photographed by Katherine Woo:

'There are two similar-looking species of Prodotia in northern Queensland – both very variable in sculpture and colour pattern. The better known (and commoner) species is P. iostoma, but this one is P. lannumi because of the paucispiral protoconch, relatively less convex whorls, predominantly nodulose sculpture, and narrower aperture with a more slender and constricted siphonal canal.'
