©Gale Spring: Unidentified flying fish photographed through a few centimetres of water at low tide, Lizard Island. The very long pectoral fins on this individual are not known from adults of any named exocoetid species according to Amanda Hay (Australian Museum). Amanda and Dr Tom Trnski (Auckland Museum) agree that it is a juvenile flying fish and Tom notes: Small juveniles are difficult to identify as fins change size proprortionately with growth.
