Comments

The names Stichopus horrens and its taxonomic synonym, Stichopus variegatus, have been widely misapplied and the species appears to be uncommon on the Great Barrier Reef (Byrne et al, 2010). Its presence at Lizard Island has not been confirmed and if it does occur there, it is extremely rare.
