Distinguishing features

Purplish-grey/brown with darker bands and scalloped trailing edges to the wings. An eyespot on each of the (different shapes on the underwings and forewings) that show up clearly when using flash photography.

Distribution and habitat preferences

Adults hide in hollow trees and caves during the day, coming out at night to forage.
