Distinguishing features

Underwing orange with distinctive black comma-shaped marking. Forewings brown; those of males with indistinct patterning, females with more distict pattern as shown in the photos.

Caterpillars vary in base colour from black to brown/orange. Smooth, with two 'eyespots' on each side of the abdomen. (Coffs Harbour Butterfly House website accessed 5 Feb 2021)
