Distinguishing features

A small goby that shares a sandy burrow with alpheid shrimp. Allen et al (2003) show three colour variations (yellow, pale barred and dark brown) of which the first two have been recorded at Lizard Island so far. Although the background colour varies, all forms have white or blueish spots on the head and bands (sometimes formed by rows of spots) on the dorsal fins.
