Distinguishing features

Petioles are channeled on the upper surface. Leaf venation is distinctive: two main side veins diverge from the midvein at about the same place, which is usually more than half the petiole's length into the blade. Twigs are mostly round in cross-section but are sometimes slightly fluted. Fruits present in late September.
