Distinguishing features

This is the common large paperbark tree at Lizard Island. It differs from other Melaleuca species found here by its elongate, curved leaves that hang downwards. The other paperbark species at Lizard Island have shorter, stiffer leaves. The tree flowers profusely. Flowers are arranged in a bottlebrush and have a strong sweet scent.
