Distinguishing features
Very short petiole with a flat upper surface. Midvein on leaf slightly raised on upper surface proximally. First side veins split off from the midvein well into the blade, at least twice the length of the petiole in. Twigs are slightly fluted (longitudinally grooved). Inflorescence is terminal and is usually shorter than the leaf length.

was recorded from Lizard Island by Byrnes et al (1977) but their specimens have subsequently been reidentified as Cryptocarya exfoliata (Atlas of Living Australia accessed 25 Mar 2018). -
Plantae:
Grey Bollywood (species: Neolitsea brassii)
has leaves with similar venation but its petioles are longer and are channelled on the upper surface rather than flat.
